The 4th 'R' of Education

Every student needs to master the 4 R's - Reading, Writing, Arithmetic & Relationships!

The ability to create healthy relationships is vital to a healthy society, and yet, when and where do children learn how to meet and greet others, handle technology, carry on a conversation, dress appropriately, and have the confidence to interact with people from diverse backgrounds? Without these skills, families, schools, communities and businesses will experience increased stress, diminished productivity and the breakdown of relationships.

Here are 10 Skills Every Child Should Possess

1.             How to meet and greet others
2.             How to do a correct handshake
3.             How to carry on a conversation
4.             How to give and receive compliments
5.             How to be a gracious host and guest
6.             How to handle cultural differences
7.             How to dine politely
8.             How to handle technology properly
9.             How to establish and maintain good posture
10.          How to groom and dress appropriately for the occasion

These skills, rooted in civility, will provide students with a solid foundation from which to create healthy relationships on the playground, and later, in the boardroom.

Just as you invest in the other 3R's for your children, invest in relationship building skills. Final Touch offers workshops and educational tools for all ages. http://www.finaltouchschool.net/products.htm

Practice politeness. Make it the rule of your everyday life at home, at school, at church, in your community and in the workplace. Maintain courteous conduct toward others. Practice civility.

Even at a young age my son (now 11)has always greeted and shook people's hands. It was especially helpful when someone I met years ago did not think well of home school children. After my son (then 7) met and shook his hand and greeted him with respect this gentleman then had no problems advocating home school. Moms, we have a powerful advantage over our children. Let us all be careful of how we treat others in front of our young ones. (whatever our mood) More is caught than taught.
